about

I am Australian living with my family in an old stone house in a small village in France. I didn’t really mean to move to France, having lived for several years in both Turkey and Oman, but here I am and here I stay.

For as long as I can remember I have been interested in textiles. I grew up in vintage clothing out of necessity and then out of choice, and the more I looked at old clothes and textiles, the more I questioned the new. Over the past two decades I have been increasingly passionate about the true meaning of sustainability in textiles and clothing, and how it is utterly intertwined with our relationship to our environment, our societies, our political and economic systems and our spirituality.

This business was born out of my passion for textiles and for the textiles that I have found here in France, mostly pre-20th century, and the people who who grew the fibre, spun and wove it into cloth, and stitched that cloth into useable pieces. I sell theses pieces, but I also write about them and what they tell me. I write and sell both on here and on Instagram, but am increasingly aiming to keep my in-depth writing on Substack.

Because of the way I work, and because no two things I come across are the same, it is not possible for me to offer click-and-buy sales on this website, as calibrating the postage costs for each item is practically impossible. Before asking to buy for the first time, please have a look at this page on buying, shipping and returns
