Six-page notaire's manuscript dated 1821
Another notaire’s (solicitor’s) manuscript which is clearly dated at the top right 1821, and which starts with a very flowery invocation to King Louis by the grace of God king of France and of Navarre…and then goes on to list the business at hand which is once again the sale of property. Evidently four pages of writing listing every single party involved and every single place they came from was not enough, someone has added a smaller page with a list of costs and payments which has been sewn with linen thread to the larger pages. Believe me when I say, as someone who has recently purchased a house in France, that this is nothing compared to some acts de notaire which could actually be bound into whole volumes of the most boring books ever to be written. But! Look at that beautiful handwriting! The larger pages measure 21x30cm and have two stamps, or rather one stamp and a watermark.
