Never-used length of antique linen bobbin lace #25
From an exceptional recent find, the stock of an old haberdashery, this is an unused remnant of handmade bobbin lace in a pure linen thread. These lengths (I have quite a few) would have been made as piecework by cottage outworkers, peasant women who earned part of their family’s money by putting their artisanal skills to use. I think these would date from the 20’s. The original labels are still on many of the lengths.
This piece is fine, and very wide with large medallion scallops. It is in perfect condition and measures 24cm wide at the widest part by 352cm long.
