*Sale* pair of very large early-mid 20th century printed cotton (possibly a bit of linen) curtains
This pair of curtains was probably mass-produced for the lower end of the market, and I have no idea of the date, they could be anywhere from 1910-1950 but I feel they are 20s. They are surprisingly in fairly good condition- physically there is only one damage I have spotted between the two of them, on the edge of one curtain, which I have pictured. They do hower have extensive staining - it’s not terribly visible against the printed backdrop but it is there. The print is faded but still very discernible. You would have to consider these as patinated! They still have most of the original curtain clips, it is also the style and metal of these curtain clips which makes me think that these were mass produced, that they are 20s, that they were aimed at poorer folk. And yet the cotton is still better quality than most of what is available on the market today - athough I do think given their ongoing strength and something about the weave and texture of the yarn that there may be a touch of linen in there too!
Each curtain measures 154cm along the ungathered bottom and is 233cm long.
