Extremely fine early 20th century women's blouse
I am not sure if this is a blouse that was intended as daywear, or the top part of a sleep set or loungewear. It is made from extremely fine cotton that has been handstitched and then meticulously and delicately hand-embroidered. It is in amazing condition considering its age and delicacy - there is no damage that I can find at all to the incredible textile. In fact the only issue is that the french seams around the sleeves have come unpicked under the arms and need to be restitched. The two hand-hemmed oval holes at the bottom of the blouse would have had ribbons passed through them.
This measures 51cm from armpit to armpit lying flat across the chest. You need to be smaller than this because the fabric is too delicate to be put under stress.
