Large 19th century handspun pure linen sheet
This is a gorgeous piece of fabric. It is a sheet probably from around 1870-1890, made from pure handspun and handwoven linen. Like all these handwoven sheets, it was made from two panels of handwoven fabric stitched together in the centre. It has been at some point been unpicked and turned centre to sides, and then someone has stitched the sides together halfway down, probably to make a sleep sack. The fabric remains strong, it is really beautiful, soft and drapey, and ideal for reuse. And there is a great deal of it. If the sewn-up side was unpicked, this would measure 214cm wide by 346cm long. There are a couple of small marks, but by and large this is in great condition.
