{3M} Large piece of slightly heavier deadstock unbleached linen

€170.00
Sold

Probably from the first half of the 20th century, this never-used large piece of pure linen may have been sheeting linen, but it is slightly heavier than most machine-milled sheeting linen I have found and is also narrow - indicating that it was an earlier manufacture rather than 1960’s. This could be used for upholstery. Physically in excellent condition, there are storage marks, tide marks from where it has been wet, and some black marks which would be dust mixed with grease. In my experience, most of these will come out, particularly as the original sizing is still present and will have protected the fabric slightly, but I can never be 100% sure until it is done, and I cannot soak and wash a piece of this size (also please see my last newsletter about working with this sort of linen - you need to be careful in taking out the sizing before you have cut it!).

Please refer to the pictures. The colour is best indicated by the close-up photos. This is 107cm from selvedge to selvedge and just over 6.5 metres long.
