Antique roll of pure linen striped fabric - German
This roll was one of a large lot I bought over five years ago from a German dealer. These rolls were often included in countrywomen’s dowries, as they were woven to provide household linens. This one would have been to make kitchen cloths or handtowels out of. It is a beautiful quality, thick and heavy, with a self-patterned series of stripes in the weave. It is in excellent condition - very minimal storage markings. It measures 43cm wide by 14.7 metres long.
