Vintage deadstock workwear jackets
These classic jackets (at time of writing there are three of them) are made of heavy durable cotton canvas, and were for decades the mainstay of French workwear. Still sold today, although many modern models contain synthetic fibres and lack the robust finishing of the originals. The quality of the vintage pieces means they were and can still be patched and repaired over and over again, and some of the most beautiful examples I have seen are of pieces that have multiple repairs.
These ones won’t need repairs, not yet anyway. They are never-worn deadstock work jackets, manufactured for the SNCF. One of them is marked with the date 1983 - this tallies with the style of the collars (which did change over time as did the cut, ever so slightly) and the quality of the textile. In impeccable condition, these have three exterior pockets and one interior pocket. They measure 59cm from armpit to armpit lying flat, 62cm from the shoulder seam at the top of the arm to the edge of the sleeve cuff, and 47cm from shoulder seam to seam across the back of the neck.
