{1V} Enormous piece of beautiful linen cotton métis damask serviette fabric - early 20th century
I bought this almost seven years ago in Albi, a town outside of Toulouse where Henri Toulouse-Lautrec was born (the museum dedicated to him is amazing, but do NOT try to see it with a cranky 13 year old and a hungry 18 month-old - it will not work out well for anyone - and clearly I need to go back!). I was going to use it to make narrow curtains out of when I finally got my forever house, but realistically it has been sitting in storage for all that time and may well sit there for another seven years. I am offering it up!
This is a cotton warp and linen weft damask textile from the first couple of decades of the 20th century. It was made to be cut into serviettes, each with a border of Greek keys and a ground of small leaves with another rectangle in the centre of each serviette. It is in pretty-much perfect condition - there is a small spot I can see that is on the reverse side - and I think this will come out in any case. It measures 67cm wide by 9.65 metres long.
